Leed Certified: Spice Distributors are Going Green
In recent times, "going green" has become a trendy movement. With this being said, being more environmentally-friendly is a wonderful commitment to make. Carolina Ingredients made this commitment and became the first to be fully, leed certified spice distributor. In an effort to satisfy the leed program's requirements the industrial seasoning manufacturer implemented the following:
- the use of solar energy for production
- the use of recycled paper for business cards
- creation of an "in-house" recycling program
- hybrid parking at facility
- installed timers on office space lights
The usage of these new techniques and implementations is expected to decrease Carolina Ingredients' carbon footprint by more than 23 tons of carbon dioxide annually. Not only will this proactive effort to preserve our environment and decease Carolina's carbon footprint, it will set the bar for other spice distributors to follow their "leed."
